Overview

Creative Technology Studio, Imagine If, asked us to express their new branding & strategy through the design and build of a new and expanded website.

They had worked with brand studio Pretty Soon to develop a fresh and current brand treatment placing them firmly on the bleeding edge of culture, tech and creativity. With our design partner, Public Websites, we set about transforming these brand guidelines into an expressive and unique site powered by Prismic CMS.

Features

A key element of the brand guidelines was a node map for images. This was reminiscent of technological data research, machine interfaces and video games. We took this as a key opportunity and, starting with rapid, code-first prototyping, we explored a D3 powered network map as the perfect anchor for the site navigation. Prototyping this prior to design allowed us to ensure it looked right, felt great and was able to perform well for the current and future site content. This meant that the new brand wasn’t just sticky taped over a traditional stack of modules but was at the heart of the entire digital experience.

A site, no matter how experimental, must still be easy to edit and respond to changing business needs and therefore we paired the unique navigation with a stack of flexible modules. We also added an Easter egg to the site to display their new gradient brand pattern.

Languages

Imagine If works globally and has a particularly strong client base in Japan. Therefore, we needed to provide a Japanese language option. We built this using Prismic’s user-friendly locale system. Learning about the importance of line-heights in Japanese writing was an eye-opening experience and we are very proud of the thoroughness of the result across the Japanese versions of the layouts.
